Oak Forest to Absorb Cost of Mowing Cook County Turf

To keep city looking pretty, alderman agree to continue cutting county grass.

The Oak Forest City Council voted 6-1 Tuesday to pay Chicago Heights-based Suburban Landscaping up to $55,854 for turf/slope mowing along public streets, most of which fall under the jurisdiction of Cook County.

The city has contracted with Suburban Landscaping for mowing services for the past three years. This year's bid came in about 30 percent under what they were previously paid due to declining fuel costs, reported the Chicago Tribune.

City officials feel the county should cover the mowing costs and hope to negotiate a future deal.
