Oak Forest Blue Demons Honor Those Killed In Action

Travel baseball team participates in Memorial Day tournament and more.

The Oak Forest Baseball Association Blue Demons 10U team, with the help of the Oak Forest Veterans Commission, recently completed their Memorial Day Project.

The players sent handwritten letters to the families of fallen soldiers, sharing things about themselves and asking to learn about the life of the fallen soldier.

The response from the families was overwhelming. The boys have received letters and care packages from the families thanking them for wanting to honor their loved ones. Care packages include photos, patches, buttons and sets of dog tags. The boys have learned so much from this experience and will never forget it.

The team wore custom jerseys honoring the fallen soldiers in a Memorial Day weekend tournament in Milwaukee Wisconsin. The jerseys have the name of the fallen soldier displayed on the back. The boys proudly displayed the names of the soldiers whose families they contacted.

The team has invited all the families to their home field, for a meet and greet, barbeque cook out and baseball game in June. The Veterans Commission and their families are invited as well.
