Oak Forest Library Board Candidates File For April Election
With seats up for grabs this April, see who is in the running for the Oak Forest Library Board.
OAK FOREST, IL — As we turn the page to chapter 2021, we find the April Consolidated Elections are just around the corner. Candidates for various positions around Oak Forest are officially in the running for mayor, city council, library board and more.
Filing for the election ended late last year, with many old and new faces entering various races around the city. At the Acorn Public Library District in Oak Forest, three seats are available this April.
The Library told Patch that two current board members have filed for re-election, Bradley Duff-Hudkins and Mary Walter. There is no other candidate filed, according to the library.

Hudkins is the current Treasurer of the library and Walter is the current Secretary. The Board of Trustees meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The meetings are public and all are welcome to attend.
The board is tasked with establishing library policies and plans, alongside hiring the library director and other delegates to ensure responsibility for managing the library daily.

"It is very exciting to see so many people actively participating in the democratic process in their local communities," Cook County Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough said in a news release. "These elections are often overlooked although they have the most impact on our day-to-day lives."
The Consolidated Election will take place on April 6. Consolidated primaries are scheduled for Feb. 23. For more information regarding the upcoming election, click here.
