Oak Forest Man Touched, Rubbed Up Against Girl at Matteson School: Police

The man, who was working as a janitor, denied the girl's claims until surveillance footage proved the incident happened, police said.

MATTESON, IL — An Oak Forest man working as a janitor at an elementary school has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse after he allegedly inappropriately touched a 15-year-old girl.

Police say Jeffrey Hensel, 53, allegedly reached inside the back of the girl's shirt and "rubbed his lower body on her leg" when they were at Marya Yates Elementary School July 22, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The girl was brought to the school by someone else working there, and had been left alone in a lounge with Hensel for a short time, according to police. While there, he began touching her, according to police, and this continued after he followed her to another part of the building.

At initial questioning, Hensel denied the interaction, but surveillance footage showed the incident and corroborated the girl's narrative, police said. Police charged Hensel with battery and later upgraded the charge to criminal sexual abuse on Sept. 13.

Hensel was booked into Cook County Jail Wednesday. Bail was set at $100,000. He is next due in court on Oct. 3.
