Oak Forest PD Alert Public To Suspicious Persons, Vehicular Carjackings
Separate incidents occurred the night of Dec. 27 in Oak Forest.
On December 27, 2020, at 19:46 hours, the Oak Forest Police Department responded to the 6300 block of Carriage Way for a report of three suspicious persons. The complainant in this case had three African-American males walk up to them while outside of their home and ask for the “time." The subjects then ran to a vehicle and drove off. This behavior caused concern and the complainant contacted OFPD.
While OFPD was responding to the call of suspicious behavior, Oak Forest Communications Center received an additional call reference an attempted aggravated vehicular high-jacking in the 15000 block of Moorings lane. The victim in this case, disrupted an armed robbery that was being committed by five suspects. The victim was South on Moorings Lane when they encountered a vehicle in the middle of the roadway. After signaling the suspect’s vehicle to move, an African-American male approached the victim displaying a handgun requesting the victim exit his vehicle. The victim in this incident then pulled away.

Prior to the attempted vehicular high-jacking, the suspects in these three incidents approach three juveniles that were walking north on Moorings Lane. In this incident the suspect vehicle, a black Lincoln SUV, stopped in the roadway in the 15000 block of Moorings and 5 African-American males exited, with another male still in the vehicle. The 5 males then approached the juveniles, displayed handguns and took numerous items from the victims.
The suspect vehicle was located on the Midlothian Turnpike and Ridgeland Ave. Upon OFPD units attempts to stop the vehicle, it fled with OFPD units terminating their pursuit at the Midlothian Turnpike and Pulaski after losing sight of the Lincoln.
