Oak Forest Police Department Now Accepting Applications for Officer

OAK FOREST, IL — So you want to be an Oak Forest cop? Now's your chance.

The department is accepting applications until Sept. 14, 2016.

Testing is being conducted for anticipated hiring needs and to establish an Eligibility List for future available positions.

Starting salary for a police officer in Oak Forest is $45,486. Applications can be found online until Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. The deadline for returning completed applications is Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.

All applications must be returned to the office of C.O.P.S. and F.I.R.E. Personnel Testing Service, Attn: Oak Forest PD, 200 W. Higgins Road, Suite 201 in Schaumburg, IL 60195.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship: Must Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's License upon time of hire
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years at the time of application (9/14/16). Must be under 35 years old at the time of application (Sept. 14, 2016) AND at such time as the final eligibility register is posted, unless they have been certified as a full-time police officer in the United States, or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6
  • Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement
  • Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6
  • Residence: At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the City of Oak Forest
  • Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing
  • P.O.W.E.R. Card: Candidates must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of Sept. 14, 2015 and Sept. 14, 2016. No physical ability testing will be administered on the day of testing. (Cards can be obtained at NIPSTA www.nipsta.com, Triton College www.triton.edu/power , or Joliet Junior College 815-280-2674)
