Oak Forest Police Officer Shot Over Stolen Vehicle: Police
An officer was shot Sunday morning after responding to a call of a "disturbance" that involved a Dodge Charger, according to police.
OAK FOREST, IL — An Oak Forest police officer was shot during an altercation over a stolen vehicle Sunday morning, according to police.
The Oak Forest Police Department responded to the 4300 block of Frontage Road at 6:20 a.m., after a call of a "disturbance" that involved Dodge Charger, according to police. Police said while on the scene officers located the unoccupied and stolen car in a parking lot.
Police said a tow truck was called and was preparing to remove the stolen vehicle. A person approached and attempted to enter the car, and while trying to get in, the person fired several shots at and struck an Oak Forest police officer, according to police.

In response, the officer returned fire and struck the individual, according to police. Both the officer and individual were taken to area hospitals for treatment, police said.
The officer received non-life-threatening injuries while the suspect’s wounds are considered life-threatening, according to Illinois State Police.

Police said the incident is being investigated by the Illinois Public Integrity Task Force and the Oak Forest Police Department. The investigation is ongoing, according to state police.
