Each day blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and the Rotary Club of Oak Forest, every year has helped countless people in our area.

Many people think that donating blood is actually dangerous or painful and the process can not be further from the truth. Even the Mayo Clinic thinks so. "Blood donation is safe. New, sterile disposable equipment is used for each donor. If you're a healthy adult, you can usually donate a pint of blood without endangering your health. Within 24 hours of a blood donation, your body replaces the lost fluids."
