Oak Forest Rotary To Hold Blood Drive

The Rotary in Oak Forest will be hosting a blood drive at the Oak Forest Park District.

OAK FOREST, IL — The Oak Forest Rotary is holding a blood drive on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at the Oak Forest Park District, 15601 S. Central Ave. The event is being held in partnership with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois in Tinley Park.

All blood donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies, which is a part of standard testing, according to the Rotary. Appointments are preferred for the event.

According to the organization, donated blood is used in a variety of ways, such as treating trauma, cancer, blood diseases and anemia, during surgery and for orthopedics.

"It's time again! We really appreciate the incredible support our Oak Forest Community has given to our blood drives," The organization wrote on Facebook. "The Park District stepped up to support us, and we're stepping up for you!"

The Rotary said to make sure to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water prior to having blood drawn. A photo I.D. and masks are required for the event.
