OAK FOREST, IL — The annual "Forest In Bloom Award" nominations are now open here in Oak Forest. The award goes to residents, businesses and organizations who take extra steps to beautify their homes and properties through "exceptional landscaping," according to the city.
The Forest In Bloom Beautification Awards are presented by the City of Oak Forest Streetscape Commission. The city said if you notice a home or business in town "where pride of ownership really shines through," to submit a nomination form for the honor.
Every resident or business in Oak Forest is eligible for nomination, and can nominate themselves or another. The city said a nominee must earn 25 points to receive the award. During the awarding process, judges consider the visual appeal of the front yard landscaping, the maintenance of lawn, bushes, shrubs and flower beds; and the use of accessories (gazing balls, fountains, statues, etc.) according to the city. Backyards will not be considered.
