OFDA Volunteers at Greater Chicago Food Depository

Youth players give back to the community

Players from the boys 14U Oak Forest Development Academy (OFDA) volunteered their time on Saturday, February 16 at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The OFDA players were able to repack 416 bags of peas and 816 bags of rice helping to contribute to over 15,000 meals to the community over their 2 hours of community service.

The Oak Forest Development Academy (OFDA) is a travel soccer club based in Oak Forest. OFDA is committed to training competitive soccer players on the field and to developing leaders who will give back to their communities. "I am very proud of our kids. They are great players on the field and great people off of the field.", said Coach Grant Sicard.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is a nonprofit organization that fights hunger throughout Cook County, Illinois. The GCFD distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and community programs, serving more than 800,000 adults and children every year.
