OFHS Homecoming Weekend; Fun for All Involved.

Oak Forest High School celebrated their annual Homecoming Week and it was a successful and enjoyable Hoopla of community and school spirit.

Homecoming at Oak Forest High School took place this past week. It was celebrated by a spirit week, pep assembly, the homecoming football game and of course, the homecoming dance.

The parade took place on Friday. OFHS did it a little different this year, with it taking place during the school day and all students being able to either walk in the parade or view it. This was a nice change. Traditionally it was held after school so unless you were walking the parade, you were not involved. This year, all students were either walking the parade or spectators with a teacher serving as guide and chaperone.

Parades are always fantastic if you ask me and this year was no exception. With the OFHS band leading the procession, all clubs were featured, some with vehicles and decorations, others just walking with shirts or banners displaying their school spirit.

The spirit week consisted of featured fun days for the kids to show their school spirit including a pajama day. The halls were decorated with theme based fun which makes the kids get into the mood of celebration for their school.

The Pep assembly included the cheerleaders and poms showing their choreographed and practiced moves, the band playing the fight song and administration gearing everyone up for the upcoming football game and dance.

The homecoming football game is always a little more special than the rest. The JV team won, although the Varsity Bengals lost the game playing Thornton Fractional North, but the sentiment of the night was not lost. Win or lose, the Bengals and OFHS came together and the night was fantastic. The weather was chilly, but the sentiment was warm.

Then of course, there was the homecoming dance. I heard, from a few reputable sources, it was fantastic. Ah, to be young again.
