The OFHS Pom Dance Team Comes Home From IDTA As State Champs!

The Oak Forest High School Pom Dance Team comes home with the coveted 1st Place Award from the IDTA State Finals.

As the Oak Forest High School Pom Dance Team took the floor at the IDTA State Finals you could hear a pin drop. The music started and our Oak Forest Poms executed their performance with perfection including 360 degree turns, jumps and chorus line kicks all in flawless synchronization.

The audience erupted and the impact of their performance was felt with thundering applause. Click here to watch their amazing performance.

"So light on their feet, astoundingly sharp, executed with authority" the 8 Count Audio tweeted out after the performance. The judges agreed and the OFHS Pom Team was bestowed the most coveted award of 1st Place in the AAA division for Pom Dance.

This is no easy feat because the competition is brutal for this award at the IDTA State Finals which took place Saturday Feb 9. 2019 in Springfield, IL. Teams from all over the state of Illinois converge to compete. The OFHS Poms received a 93.3 out of 100 which is as close to perfect as you can get with the very competitive and stringent scoring.

The Oak Forest Pom Dance Team is no strangers to accolades. They have placed at the IHSA as a top ten finalist for the past 3 years (2015; 7th, 2016; 6th, 2017; 7th); 6-Time State Qualifier, 2016 2A Sectional Champions, and 5-Time SSC Conference Champions, according to their twitter page.

"They work really hard and they deserved this!" wrote a mom on Facebook and many agree. They work tirelessly and their season runs from June until early February and consists of performances at home football and basketball games along with competitions.

If you are an 8th grader and interested in trying out for the team next year, you probably want to check out the three-day camp which is held on Monday Feb 18- Wednesday Feb 20th from 4:00-6:00pm with a performance on Feb 22nd.
