OAK FOREST, IL – Playgrounds in Oak Forest are now open to the public, following closures intended to keep communities safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

Families are urged to remain vigilant and following social distancing guidelines as they use local playground facilities.
The Oak Forest Park District learned on Friday that local governments are allowed the discretion to determine if outdoor playgrounds can open, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

Families visiting the playground should be aware that playground equipment, picnic tables and benches are not cleaned or sanitized. They should evaluate whether they are comfortable using public equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic, the department said in the post.
