In a Star in Born, Lady Gaga, Shines in Her Acting Debut
The movie the Star is Born was a great vehicle to show the depth of Lady Gaga's ability to connect with her audience in her acting debut.

I really didn't expect much as I bought my ticket for The Star is Born starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. I did hear good things so I tried to keep an open mind.
The movie which has actually been remade three times; first in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, then in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson and now in 2018 with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. It is a love story between a famous musician who has a by chance meeting with a struggling artist. They are drawn to one each other right away and fall in love. A chance is given to the unknown artist to perform at a concert and she is so good, that a star in born. Their relation is not perfect and as her career takes off, his alcoholism is spiraling out of control despite the endless and passionate love of the up and coming artist.
In 1976, this role put Barbara Streisand on the map which won her the Best Actress Golden Globe and the Best Original Song, "Evergreen." Although she had quite a few movies at this point in her career, this one seemed to cement her as a serious actress as well as a beloved singer and songwriter.

This role for Lady Gaga, I predict will do the same. This is the acting debut for the outspoken, outlandish and many times controversial singer song writer. Making the transition to the big screen would take the right role for her fans and her critics alike to either accept her as a serious actress or a failure and wanta-be. This was definitely the right role for her.
Her voice and acting lent itself perfectly to the role as Ally, the quirky, street smart woman trying to be taken seriously as a singer yet subconscious about the way she looked. She plays the role beautifully and was so believable in the role. Bradley Cooper is wonderful in the role of the self destructive rock star doomed from the start as he falls deeper in love with Ally only to never live up to his potential. And those blue eyes, just mesmerizing. They have a great chemistry in the movie and the love affair between the two of them feels real, not forced or canned.

The sound track is amazing, not surprisingly, because Lady Gaga has one of the most sensational voices of our time. Bradley Cooper was equally amazing with a crooning voice that was quite a surprise for me.
All in all, this was a great movie and I predict will catapult Lady Gaga into a the small group of artists to cross the line between singer to actress. I see a few golden globes in her future also. It is a great date movie!
