OAK FOREST, IL — Tevin Coleman, the Oak Forest High School alum and now NFL veteran, will forever be the answer to a Super Bowl trivia question. He's the player whose touchdown gave the Atlanta Falcons a 28-3 lead in the third quarter of Super Bowl LI three years ago. It's a lead the Falcons infamously gave up, allowing the New England Patriots to complete a remarkable comeback and win the big game 34-28 in overtime.

But now Coleman, along with his current head coach, San Francisco 49ers' Kyle Shanahan, has a chance at redemption. The 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday and will play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV on Feb. 2.

Coleman's status for the game, however, remains in doubt. The Tinley Park native and Oak Forest Bengal great dislocated his shoulder during the win over the Packers and is questionable for the Super Bowl, according to an NFL.com report.

Shanahan says the running back, whom he coached while the offensive coordinator with the Falcons in the Super Bowl three years ago, has "a chance to play."

This is Coleman's first season with the 49ers after spending the first four seasons of his pro career with the Falcons. He played college football at Indiana University.

While the 49ers hope Coleman can suit up when the team takes the field on in Miami, they sure do have a solid alternate plan. Their other running back Raheem Mostert rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries during the team's win over the Packers.
