'Trunk Or Treat' Planned At Oak Fest Grounds On Halloween

Volunteers are needed to bring their cars and pass out candy from the trunk in this newly organized Halloween event at 159th and Central.

OAK FOREST, IL — The Oak Forest Crime Prevention Commission has a safe and fun way to get the kids out for Halloween this year. With the support of the city, the group is planning a "Trunk or Treat" at the Oak Fest site near the corner of 159th and Central from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The group is looking for volunteers willing to decorate their cars and give out candy to the trick-or-treaters in this event, believed to be the first of its kind in Oak Forest. Businesses are welcome and encouraged to participate, organizer Lara Kargis said in an email. Spots are limited. The crime prevention commission will give each registered trunk a bag of candy to start., but each participant should bring their own candy as well.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three decorated trunks. Cars need to be in the lot by 3:45 p.m. on Halloween so as not to interfere with the trick-or-treaters and may not leave until 6 p.m. once children have left the grounds.
