AEStoner and Associates Pediatric Therapy Services Opens

Pediatric Occupational Therapist Allison E. Stoner offers occupational therapy for children ages birth to 25. Working with patients and their families, occupational therapy services can help children reach developmental milestones, achieve an appropriate level of independence, and realize their full potential.

Based in Riverside, Ill, Stoner serves the surrounding communities of Oak Park, River Forest, Brookfield, LaGrange, Forest Park, Stickney, Berwyn, and Lyons. Stoner has over nine years of OT experience working as a pediatric occupational therapist including working with children and adolescents in outpatient pediatric clinics, Early Intervention (0-3), and schools. She is a certified Early Intervention Specialist for the state of Illinois.

“I decided to open my own practice because I saw that the need for pediatric occupational therapy is great, especially within Early Intervention. Helping children learn new skills while also assisting families to function better are two things I love about pediatric occupational therapy,” Stoner said.

Pediatric OT’s also can help families struggling during the pandemic with children doing E-learning who may have difficulties with time management, organization, or attention. “Executive functioning is something that is necessary for children to succeed, and with the new environment of learning from home with all of those possible distractions, I can help families develop strategies for success,” Stoner said.

Many people associate occupational therapy only with adults. But as Stoner explains, children have “occupations” too: playing, regulating themselves, using their hands and eyes together, self-help skills and interacting with others. Pediatric OT’s can help children achieve developmental milestones and reach their potential.

Stoner graduated from The University of Illinois at Chicago with a M.S. in Occupational Therapy. She has a B.A. in Biology and Psychology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.
