Carjacking, Armed Robbery Leaves Man With $13K Loss: Oak Park Police

The man was approached on South Lyman Avenue on Wednesday.

An Oak Park man lost his car, wallet and phone to an armed robbery and carjacking on Wednesday, Oak Park police announced in a release.

According to cop reports, a black man in his 20’s approached a man who was sitting in a parked silver 2013 Chevrolet Malibu in the 900 block of South Lyman Avenue between 11:55 p.m. and 12:06 a.m. Feb. 22. The suspect, who reportedly got out of a dark-colored Nissan, showed the man a black semi-automatic handgun and said, “Give me what you got.”

The man turned over his car keys, white Apple iPhone and black Calvin Klein wallet, police said. The suspect demanded he get out of the car then got into it himself, driving away and leaving the victim with nothing. The Nissan also drove away in the same direction, driven by an unknown accomplice.

The suspect was further described as thin and was reportedly wearing a black beanie, red hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
