Concordia's University Band to Perform Christmas Concert Dec. 2
The concert will take place at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Lord on the Concordia campus.

RIVER FOREST, IL – The University Band of Concordia University Chicago will perform its annual Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Lord on campus. Admission is free.
Festive numbers for the evening will include “On a Catalonian Carol” by Randall D. Standridge, “Alleluia! Laudamus Te” by Alfred Reed and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson. A performance of “At Dawn They Slept” by Jay Bocook will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The band will also perform “The Night Before Christmas” by Randol Alan Bass, based on the famous poem by Clement Clarke Moore, and narrated by Peter Pohlhammer. Jean Harrison Bojes, an audience favorite, will return to provide commentary on the performance, introducing and describing each selection.

The University Band comprises approximately 70 musicians, including residents from surrounding communities as well as Concordia University Chicago students, faculty and staff. Dr. Richard Fischer, distinguished professor of music and the Fred and Jane Wittlinger Endowed Chair for Music Performance, conducts the ensemble. In addition to his work at Concordia-Chicago, he is in demand internationally as a guest conductor, clinician, presenter and adjudicator.
Concordia-Chicago’s campus is located at 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest, IL. Free off-street parking is available in the University’s parking structure, south of Division Street on Bonnie Brae Place. Handicapped-accessible parking is available in the visitors’ lot adjacent to the north side of the University parking structure.
