Elgin deli owner plans to feed 1,500 on Thanksgiving
The meal is funded through donations and offered free of charge

Jeff Turner, owner of In The Neighborhood Deli, is planning his annual charity Thanksgiving meal in Elgin, according to The Courier-News. Turner has been organizing the community building event since 2009.
The meal will be held on November 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, located at 216 E. Highland Ave.
The Community Thanksgiving Dinner is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24 at First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave. The church has offered its basement for the meal for the past several years.

Turner told The Courier-News that volunteers can help set starting at 8 a.m. They can also serve food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and clean up between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The meal is open to anyone, but volunteer slots tend to fill-up quickly. To volunteer or get more information, call In The Neighborhood Deli at 847-888-9486.
