George W. Maher Walk and Talk Event

Tickets to the July 22 program cost $20.

Chicago, IL – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff Realty Group in conjunction with the Pleasant Home Foundation will hold a program July 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to highlight the design of Prairie School Architect George W. Maher.

Pleasant Home is a National Historic Landmark located in Oak Park, Illinois, and designed by Maher in 1897. The Pleasant Home Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring, preserving, and operating Pleasant Home as a historic house museum.

The event begins with a house tour at 750 W. Hutchinson Street in Chicago given by architectural historians Kathleen Cummings and Timothy Samuelson, Cultural Historian for the City of Chicago. After touring the home, guests will continue along Hutchinson Street to tour four more Maher designed homes in the exclusive Chicago landmark district neighborhood.

“We are excited to hold this program to educate visitors who want to learn more about this historic district and in particular, this type of architecture,” said Cummings.

“These homes are really a treasure within the city and we encourage anyone interested in architecture to join us,” said Samuelson. He continued, “George W. Maher’s designs are very unique to Chicago and guests will really get a sense of a piece of history.”
