Halloween Trick-or-Treating Hours in Oak Park, River Forest 2013
Trick-or-treaters have between 3 and 7 p.m. to collect their loot in Oak Park and River Forest.

It's that time—time for some spooky, oddball and sugar-heavy Halloween-related activities, which all lead up to the epic night of trick-or-treating on Thursday, Oct. 31.
The official trick-or-treating hours in Oak Park and River Forest this Halloween are 3-7 p.m.
The Village of Oak Park encourages parents to accompany young children, especially after dark, and inspect all treats. Other safety tips include:
- Use make-up instead of masks
- Choose flame-retardant costumes
- Wear light-colored clothing at night or add reflective tape to dark colored costumes
- Give and accept only wrapped and packaged candy
- Go out in daylight and carry a flashlight in case of delay
- Stay within your neighborhood and visit only homes you know
- Make sure your costume is visible to vehicles & others.
- Instead of a candle to light a pumpkin, use a small flashlight or liquid light stick that glows in the dark.
- Purchase only flame retardant or flame proof costumes and masks.
- Be sure costumes fit properly to prevent tripping or falls, and masks allow full vision.
- Do not trick or treat alone.
- Only approach homes that are well lit and only approach the front door.
- Stay on sidewalks & obey traffic signs / signals.
- Carry a flashlight.
- Adults should check their child's candy, before they eat it.
