Grant Could Fund Dental Clinic for Special Needs Children

Vote for the Oak Park Children's Clinic on Facebook to help them win a $100,000 grant. Voting ends Friday, Nov. 22.

The Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society Children's Clinic is one of three finalists for the Delta Dental Foundation's Wisdom Tooth Award of $100,000.

The nonprofit would use the grant to expand its services to offer a clinic for children with special needs, Children's Clinic Executive Director Elizabeth Lippitt said Wednesday.

Children with special needs require more time, and the skills of a pediatric dentist, she said.

More and more area dentists have been sending their high-need patients to the Children's Clinic, which is one of few clinics in the area that serves low-income patients, Lippitt said

The contest will be partially based on audience votes on Facebook, which ends Friday, Nov. 22.
