Hemingway Will Now Have His Own Oak Park District Too

Name change approved for The Avenue to become the Hemingway District.

The Wednesday Journal reports that at their recent meeting, The Avenue Business Association has decided to change their name—to The Hemingway District.

Both the Hemingway foundation and the great author's family have given it their blessing.

The name change comes as a way for Oak Park to greater connect itself with its historical roots. New signs and bannors will soon line the street, as they do in other business district in Oak Park.

The Hemingway Foundation was reportedly pleased by the name change too. They hope the new name will bring greater awareness to Hemingway's life in the area and will translate to an increase in residents and tourists visiting the museum.
