Holiday Tree Collection Starts In Oak Park

The free holiday tree pickup is available for buildings with five or fewer units.

OAK PARK, IL --- Now that the holidays have come and gone and we're into the new year, the village of Oak Park will start its annual holiday tree collection. Trees will be picked up at no cost from homes with five or fewer units during the weeks of Jan. 7 and Jan. 14 and then taken to be mulched and composted, village officials said in an online post.

Residents are reminded to remove ornaments, lights, and other decorations before taking their tree out before their usual collection day. Also avoid putting your tree in a plastic bag to ensure that they will be picked up for mulching.

Residents who usually leave their trash in an alley should leave the tree there too instead of in a parkway.

Those who miss the scheduled free collection weeks can still get their trees picked up by attaching a trash sticker.
