Hotel Shooting Victim Was Oak Park Student: Report

An 18-year-old man was attending a gathering when he was shot in the abdomen at a downtown hotel on Tuesday, according to Chicago police.

CHICAGO— An 18-year-old man was shot in the abdomen on Tuesday night at a downtown hotel, according to Chicago police.

The man was at a gathering with several other people on the 22nd floor of the Hotel Audrey at 166 East Superior Street when someone fired shots, police said in a statement.

The Chicago Tribune reported the man was a student at Oak Park and River Forest High School. A spokesperson from the Chicago Police Department would not confirm that information.

An employee from Hotel Audrey confirmed the shooting occurred on site, but could not give additional information as to the events leading up to the incident.

The shooting occurred at around 10:45 p.m. The young man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he is listed in fair condition.
