Jazz is Alive and Well in Riverside!
The Terry Sullivan Trio is appearing on Sunday, May 16 at 4:00 PM at Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 31st and Desplaines

During the last year Covid-19 has taken its toll on all of us but perhaps no profession, art form or pastime has been impacted more than musical performances. Fortunately, on Sunday, May 16 at 4:00 pm, The Terry Sullivan Trio is giving a concert of mainstream jazz at Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Woodside Road, Riverside (31st and Desplaines) to remind us of what we’ve been missing.
Ms. Sullivan will be accompanied by some of the region’s most accomplished jazz musicians: pianist Tom Muellner, bassist Rob Kassinger (a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and special guest Bill Overton on reeds.
Tickets are sold at the door; admission is $20 per person in cash only. CDC guidelines will be followed and the wearing of masks is requested. More information is available at 708/488-1701.

Vocalist Terry Sullivan began her traditional musical training in grade four and has a degree in flute from Ohio University. After college, she started her professional singing career performing in early music ensembles and small concert choirs before turning to jazz. Anita O’Day and Blossom Dearie were early influences. Ms. Sullivan studied at the Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
Guest artist Bill Overton was born in Memphis and grew up immersed in its blues, jazz and soul music. After receiving Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana, he moved to New York City. There he performed with such artists as Mel Lewis, Doc Cheatham, Mickey Roker, Major Holley, Vic Dickinson, Rosemary Clooney, Vince Giordano's Nighthawks, Howard Alden, Bo Diddley, the Temptations, the Spinners and others—all while teaching at the Brooklyn Conservatory, William Patterson College, the Aebersold Jazz Clinics and in public schools. He has recorded extensively and conducted clinics, master classes and seminars throughout the U.S. and abroad. Bill and his family moved to Libertyville, Illinois, in 1998. He performs with the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Symphony II, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony and his own quartet, among others. His debut recording as a leader, "The Sun Will Shine," was recently released.
