A Life-Affirming Covid Fundraiser - Poetry, Music and Fine Food

Join us for dinner, poetry, music and a chance to help your neighbors on Sat., Sept. 19 at the Eastgate Café, 102 Harrison St., Oak Park

Covid-19 had been a devastating event in all of our lives and the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund is dedicated to helping those who are among the most vulnerable.

To support the COVID-19 Response Fund, local poet Maureen Kwiat Meshenberg and the Lyric Opera’s own soprano Christine Steyer are hosting an art-filled event including drinks and dinner at the Eastgate Café from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.

The evening will feature a book signing by Maureen Kwiat Meshenberg and a performance by Christine Steyer. All proceeds from book sales and 15% of all food and drink orders will go to the cause.

The Eastgate is a full-service restaurant with a full bar. We observe all Covid-19 Guidelines including masks and social distancing. Weather permitting, our outdoor courtyard will be open. Indoors, we screen in the band stand for added security.

Everyone should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.

– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
