A Berwyn man accused of robbing a UPS truck in Oak Park Friday faces a federal criminal robbery charge, the U.S. Attorney's office reported.

OAK PARK, IL — A Berwyn man accused of robbing a United Parcel Service (UPS) delivery truck in Oak Park Friday faces a federal criminal robbery charge, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois announced in a Monday news release. Darius D. Young, 24, was arrested on robbery accusations and will appear in court Friday morning, according to the news release. Young was one of three people accused of robbing the truck Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of South Highland Avenue, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago.

That's where the truck driver parked to make a delivery, and a car pulled up behind it, the complaint states, according to the news release. The driver then heard a man approach him from behind, saying, “Get on the ground, stay down,” according to the complaint.

The driver laid face down in the street behind the truck, looking up long enough to see what appeared to be the handle of a handgun in the waistband of one of the three men, according to the news release. Young and the two others are accused of taking several boxes from the UPS truck, and then drove off, the news release said.
