Maya Del Sol to Honor Perfect Dinner Gift Cards

After one local restaurant closes, another opens their doors to honor customer's gift cards.

Are you still holding on to a gift card to the Perfect Dinner? Don't throw it out. Instead, take it over to Maya Del Sol, 144 S. Oak Park Ave.

When the Perfect Dinner closed in December after nine years in Oak Park, some of their customers were still holding on to gift cards, or had credit accounts to the business, which could no longer be redeemed.

After hearing about this predicament, the staff at Maya Del Sol figured they'd lend a hand and help out.

“Without the support of the local community, we could not have survived these last few years," Todd Gunderson, director of operations at Maya said in a statement. "As an active member of this community, it only seemed right for us to repay some of that goodwill by honoring a portion of their accounts so that they did not end up with nothing.”

Maya will be mailing out gift certificates for 50 percent of the value, up to $200, to all customers who still had open credit accounts with the Perfect Dinner when the doors closed. Customers who have gift certificates can bring them in for 50 percent of their value, up to $50.

“We understand, first hand, how difficult it is to survive in this economic climate," Gunderson said. "We felt bad that one of our neighbors had to close and we also felt bad for the customers. When you are part of a community, you do what you can to help each other out.”

It's better to get something, than nothing at all. And hey, what an opportunity to try out something new.
