Nonprofit To Build Apartments For Low-Income Moms In Oak Park
The apartment complex will offer housing for homeless and income insecure mothers and their kids.

OAK PARK, IL — An Oak Park nonprofit plans to break ground on an apartment complex to provide housing for income insecure and homeless moms and their children. The project is sponsored by New Moms, which helps young mothers with jobs, housing, and other resources.
The apartment complex, which will be located at 206 Chicago Ave. in Oak Park, will house 18 living spaces in addition to offices for New Moms staff and rooms for events and support services.
In a press release, New Moms said "the need is great" for affordable housing in Cook County. They cite a study that showed the county has nearly 200,000 fewer affordable homes than it needs to house families.
