Oak Park Concert Chorale to Premiere New Carols at Nov. 20 Concert

A second and final show will take place Dec. 4.

'Tis the season — the Oak Park Concert Chorale will perform ancient and modern Christmas carols in a public concert in just a couple of weeks.

Five of these carols will be premiered during the chorale’s show, Hodie!, which will kick off in late November.

Director Paul Lindbald and his chorale will perform two shows. The first is at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 at St. John Lutheran Church, which is located at 305 Circle Avenue in Forest Park.

The second and final show will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 1025 W. Lake Street in Melrose Park.

General admission tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Seniors aged 65 and up and students ages 13 and up are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Children under the age of 12 get in for free.

The Oak Park Concert Chorale is one of the top choral ensembles in the midwest, according to a press release. The group offers both a cappella and accompanied performances around Oak Park.

Lindblad, the director of the group, has his undergraduate degree in music education and a master’s degree in Church Music from Concordia University. He has studied with world-famous choral conductor Paul Christiansen and Katinka Daniel, an International Kodály music education specialist.

The Oak Park Concert Chorale is a nonprofit that is partially sponsored by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency and the Oak Park Area Arts Council.
