Oak Park Fire Department Releases September Report
Calls were almost as high as last year's record-breakers.
While emergency calls aren’t at an all-time high this year, service calls for the Village of Oak Park’s Fire Department remain frequent, the department announced in its monthly report.
September saw an increase in calls for emergency medical services and a slight decrease in fire and general service calls, the department reported. Officials estimate that by the end of 2016, the fire department will have responded to 6,600 calls from Oak Park residents, which is only slightly less than last year's record number.

- 342 calls, or 65 percent of the month’s total, were for emergency medical services
- 83 calls, or 16 percent of the month’s total, were general service calls
- 40 calls, or 8 percent of the month’s total, were alarm-initiated calls
- 34, or 6 percent, were “good-intent” calls
- 28 calls, or 5 percent of the total, were calls because of fires or hazardous conditions
Firemen and paramedics interacted with 325 patients in September, according to the report. While 307 of those patients had to be transported to a medical faciity, 127 required advanced life support.
The Oak Park Fire Department responded to a total of three structure fires last month, but only one — an oven fire — was in Oak Park.
