Oak Park Lawyer Helps Family Sue Holy Cross Hospital for Allegedly Killing a Relative

The family believes her massive blood loss was the result of a mistake on the doctor's part.

Oak Park lawyer Ted Jennings is representing the family of a woman who died at Holy Cross Hospital due to blood loss the family believes is the hospital’s fault.

Michael Banasiak, the independent executor of the estate of the deceased Patricia Banasiak, filed a complaint late last December alleging the Chicago hospital and its doctors failed to provide the correct care to Patricia, the Cook County Record reported.

Patricia suffered copious blood loss, according to the Record, which led to mass organ failure and, ultimately, her death. Michael Banasiak is suing Holy Cross Hospital, doctor Haleyur Arun and medical practice Pulmonary Consultants, S.C., holding those entities responsible for initiating that blood loss.

Michael said doctors failed to correctly place a triple lumen catheter in one of Patricia’s femoral veins and instead placed it in an artery for nine days. When the catheter was removed, Patricia’s blood loss was triggered.

Patricia’s family is seeking more than $50,000 in compensation, plus court costs.
