Oak Park Library Director to Resign

Deirdre Brennan, executive director of the Oak Park Public Library, will leave at the end of the year for a new position with Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS).

Deirdre Brennan, the executive director of the Oak Park Public Library released an announcement on Tuesday afternoon that she will be leaving her position at the end of the year for a role in Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) as the executive director there.

Her resignation will go into effect on Dec. 31, 2012, so that she can begin her new positions with RAILS on Jan. 1, 2013.

Oak Park Library Board Trustees announced that they would begin the process of find a replacement at a board meeting on Nov. 12.

RAILS works with over 1500 public, private, university and school libraries in Illinois to provide delivery service for Illinois interlibrary loan program and provides technology support for over 800 libraries shared online catalogs.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being here, and being a part of this community," Brennan said in the release. "Personally, this new opportunity at RAILS gives me the chance to help bring positive change to more libraries throughout Illinois, empowering more people with all that great libraries can offer them.”
