The Village of Oak Park will lift its on-street, overnight parking ban on most residential streets to accommodate holiday visitors starting at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 and resume at 2:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, according to a message from the Village of Oak Park.
Restrictions will remain in effect in overnight permit areas, such as Village-owned lots, on-street enclaves and on-street overnight permit parking zones. All other parking regulations also remain in effect, including all daytime posted restrictions and regulations related to traffic and public safety.
The village in October approved an ordinance to allow for up to two hours of free metered parking on weekends during the holiday shopping season in the downtown districts and south Oak Park, beginning the day after Thanksgiving, and running every Saturday until Dec. 25.
