OAK PARK, IL --- Oak Park residents will be getting an early gift from the village this season as it temporarily lifts its overnight parking restrictions during the holidays. The eased parking restrictions will start on Dec. 22 and continue through New Year's Day.

Officials say the change will affect on-street overnight parking starting at 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 22. Normal parking restrictions will be back in effect at 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 2.

The change does not apply to areas that require a paid overnight permit, officials said in a press release. They added that daytime restrictions and other restrictions would remain in place.
