Oak Park Market Nears Grand Opening

The new grocery store will offer locally sourced produce and organic eats.

OAK PARK, IL — Residents in northeast Oak Park will soon have a new place to shop for groceries once Oak Park Market officially opens in early October. The family-owned grocery store focuses its stock on fresh, locally sourced fruits, veggies, and products.

Oak Park Market will make its home in the site of a former grocery store at 6209 North Ave., just a few blocks east of Wonder Works Children's Museum. Helmed by Angelo Palivos, the new grocery store will feature organic eats, fresh dessert, a hot food counter, and craft beer.

The store, which aims to offer a wider selection and more affordable prices for residents, has drawn much of its inspiration from social media. Palivos has been active in such online groups as the Northeast Oak Park Community Group on Facebook to see what Oak Parkers want to see in a new grocery store. Monthly gift card drawings are among the incentives he plans to offer to Facebook fans.

Trustee Deno Andrews posted in the group in mid-August and mentioned the store's willingness to work with customers. Andrews wrote, "[The owners of Oak Park Market] are definitely taking your suggestions and running with them."

The grand opening of Oak Park Market is set for Oct. 5.
