Oak Park may tax medical marijuana
Village could get six percent of sales from medical cannabis. Vote could come in July.

Preliminary approval of a local sales tax on medical marijuana came from the Oak Park Village Board at its Monday meeting despite strenuous opposition from the owner of a shop already planned for downtown, according to the Chicago Tribune story. A final vote could come later this month.
Since the product would come directly to the Seven Point dispensary planned for 1140 Lake Street in downtown Oak Park from its farm, the tax would be six percent. Seven Point owner Brad Zerman said in the Tribune story he is strongly opposed to any additional taxes which would be passed along to the customer.
