Oak Park Police Warn Of Recent Identity Theft Cases

Police recently received an increase in cases of identity thefts involving Oak Park residents who reported being the victims.

OAK PARK, IL — The Oak Park Police Department warns residents of dozens of recent identity theft reports.

According to the police department, police recently received an increase in cases of identity thefts, specifically involving dozens of residents who've reported they were the victim of fraudulent unemployment insurance claims made in their name with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).

Police added that if you’ve received a debit card or an unemployment insurance finding letter and did not file for benefits, or if your employer notifies you that an unnecessary claim has been filed, you should contact IDES to promptly report it.
