Police Find Drugs, Weapons on Teens in Car: River Forest Police Blotter

SUNDAY, OCT. 21
DUI Arrest
Simon Vega, 46, of the 1700 block of north Kedzie Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was pulled over in the 1400 block of Lathrop at about 1:35 a.m. Further investigation by police found that he had never been issued a driver's license, but had twice had his driving privilleges revoked for DUI. Police found that Vega's blood alcohol concentration was .199, more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with felony driving under the influence of alcohol and numerous traffic violations, police reported.

Threat Reported
At about 6:04 p.m., a Concordia University student reported he was threatened twice by a basketball teammate after a verbal exchange between the two in the locker room. The incident was reported to a coach and was filed with police for documentation purposes only.
Wallets Stolen
- Someone stole a wallet from a River Forest resident's purse while she was eating at Panera Bread, 7349 Lake St., at some point between 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The loss included $4 in cash, a driver's license, a student ID and a debit card.
- An employee at the Krentz Building at Concordia University reported to police at about 12:27 p.m. that someone stole a wallet from her purse, which was in a desk drawer. The loss included a driver's license, a health insurance card and a debit card.
Child Support Warrant
At about 3:46 a.m. while out on patrol at Madison and Ashland, an officer observed a vehicle parked in a no parking zone with the windows obsured by condensation. Two people were found in the car, one who was later found to be wanted on a no-bond Cook County warrant for contempt of court for child support. Everett L. Pugh, 33, of the 7100 block of south South Shore Drive in Chicago was arrested and transported to the station before being turned over to Cook County Sheriff's police.

THURSDAY, OCT. 18
Warrant Arrest
An officer on patrol in the 7200 block of North Avenue reported they saw a Nissan Altima with suspended registration plates at about 12:05 a.m. Upon stopping the car, the officer found Christian Garcia, 24, of the 3000 block of north Allen Avenue in Chicago, was wanted on a $3,000 warrant from DuPage County. He was arrested and taken to the station where he was cited for traffic violations and then released after posting bond.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 17
iPad Stolen From Car
A resident told police that someone stole his Apple iPad from his unlocked car while it was parked in the Town Center parking lot in the 7200 block of Lake Street.
TUESDAY, OCT. 16
Computer Stolen From Car
An HP laptop computer worth $4,500 was taken from the front seat of a resident's unlocked car while it was parked in the 400 block of Park Avenue.
Man Busted for Unlawful Possession of Weapon, Drugs
An officer on patrol at Madison and Thatcher at about 5:46 p.m. reported that they observed a car driving south stopped at a stop sign with a man in the front seat smoking a marijuana cigarette. The officer stopped the car, and while assisted by a Cook County Sheriff's police officer, questioned four people riding in the car.
The driver, Sean M. Peters, 30, of the 300 block of Burkhardt Court in Forest Park, was found in possession of a 6-inch hunting knife and a BB gun pistol. He was arrested and charged with unlawful use/possession of a weapon.
The three other passengers—two 14-year-olds and a 17-year-old—appeared to be under the influence of marijuana, the officer said. One of the teens was found in possession of two bags of marijuana totaling 4.1 grams. All three were cited for possession of cannabis and turned over to their parents. Peters was additionally charged with three counts of contributing to the deliquency of a minor.
Warrant Arrest
James A. Sprenger, 47, of the 100 block of Park Avenue, was arrested on an open $3,000 warrant from DuPage County for violation of an order of protection at about 5:29 p.m. in the 100 block of Park Avenue. He was taken to the station and turned over to DuPage County Sheriff's deputies.
