Police Charge 3 with Trespassing, 1 Additionally for Prior Theft: Oak Park Police Blotter

Resident Hit and Robbed

An Oak Park resident reported to police that while in the 900 block of north Austin Boulevard around 5:35 p.m., they were hit in the face and robbed. The victim described the offender to police as a man in his 20s with short dreadlocks, a red baseball cap and a dark jacket. The offender stole a white Apple iPhone from the victim's hand after hitting them and then fled south on Chicago Avenue. The estimated loss was $500.

Garage Damaged in Burglary Attempt

A resident of the 1000 block of south Grove Avenue reported to police that someone damaged the side service door of their garage overnight between Jan. 2-3. A pry-type tool was used, causing an estimated $150 in damage to the doorframe.

Arrested for Theft

Yakariel S. Jackson, 19, of the 900 block of North Boulevard, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to residence in the 600 block of Linden. Jackson was arrested along with Christan James, 18, of the 100 block of north Humphrey and Cheryl M. Shields, 18, of the 1100 block of south Humphrey at the scene.

Additionally, Jackson was charged with a theft the occurred on Sept. 29 in 2012.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 2

Saline Solution Stolen

A resident of the 900 block of south Euclid Avenue told police that their Fed-Ex package containing bottles of saline solution was stolen sometime between Dec. 20 and Jan. 2 from their front porch. The total estimated loss was $2,050.
