River Forest resident wins $10K from TCC

TCC donates $10K to the American Cancer Society on winner's behalf

River Forest resident Donna W. was named the winner of TCC’s Get10Give10 sweepstakes in January. On Friday, Jan. 31, she was awarded $10,000 during a check presentation at TCC’s River Forest store, located at 7261 W. Lake St.

“It’s so great TCC is giving back to its customers and their communities this way,” said Donna. “I set out this year with the hopes of saving $10,000 towards a new, more reliable car. I couldn’t believe it when I got the call [from TCC]. It just goes to show that if you set to aim for something and put it out into the world, you may just end up getting that extra help in reaching it.”

Throughout 2020, a total of five TCC customers entered in the sweepstakes will win $10,000 to keep and TCC Gives will donate an additional $10,000 to a nonprofit of their choice.

Along with Donna’s check presentation on Jan. 31, TCC Gives presented officials from the American Cancer Society (ACS) with another $10,000 check on her behalf. Donna selected ACS for her nonprofit donation because every woman in her family has been diagnosed with some form of cancer, and she hopes to break the pattern.

“We are thrilled that Donna chose to give the American Cancer Society this donation,” said American Cancer Society Illinois Executive Director Michael Ziener. “It’s generosity like this that keeps us moving toward our goal of freeing the world from cancer. We’re truly grateful for Donna’s and TCC’s support of our lifesaving cancer research, early detection and patient service programs.”

Donna was the second Get10Give10 winner announced by TCC since the sweepstakes launched in November 2019. The first was Weirton, WV resident Cassie S. who donated $10,000 to Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

TCC is a Culture of Good, Inc. company and makes ongoing investments in the local communities where it operates. Earlier this year, the company donated more than 140,000 backpacks with school supplies at TCC stores across the country and gave supply packs to more than 6,000 teachers across the U.S. The company’s nonprofit organization, TCC Gives, recently surpassed $1.9 million in donations to local nonprofits across the country.
