River Forest Teen Cited for New Year's Eve Party

A New Year's Eve celebration at a home in River Forest was broken up around midnight, spoiling an underage drinking party.

An officer on patrol reported that they saw two teens outside past curfew on Dec. 31 and stopped them. After talking with the teens, both 16 years old, they found that they had been drinking at a home in the 500 block of William.

Police canvassed the area and eventually located a home with the doors open, but no one answering. When they checked the home, they reported finding over 300 beer cans in the basement. River Forest police were eventually able to make telephone contact with a 17-year-old River Forest resident that had hosted the party.

Police said the teen told them he had hosted a party and that the other partygoers had fled when they saw the two 16-year-olds being talked to by police. The two teens that were initially stopped were released without charges and turned over to their parents.

The 17-year-old host of the party was issued a citation for hosting the underage drinking party and released to his father at the scene.
