The Eastgate Cafe at 102 Harrison Street is a charming, family-run restaurant that, like other restaurants during the shutdown this spring, has been offering food for takeout. But with the coming of warm weather it’s been able to offer its neighbors a special dining experience.
You see, the restaurant has a private patio that the owners have turned into a magical place where tall trees form a leafy canopy over lovely wrought iron tables and chairs carefully arranged to observe social distancing guidelines. They call it the Secret Garden. Lush flowering plants in ceramic urns and blooming rose bushes scent the air as patrons sip tall drinks and savor hearty appetizers listening to live music performed on a flagstone stage.
Since everything is out in the open, diners can feel more relaxed about socializing with friends and family. The beauty of the surroundings, the privacy and serenity it offers, make the gourmet entrees and the cocktails served all the more enjoyable.
