Campout, Get Green and Play Frisbee: The Weekend Guide

There's lots of events going on around town this weekend. Get a new bike, or come by for a open mic night and whole lot more.

Friday, Sept. 28

Zero Waste Campout at Priory Park: Campout overnight at Priory Park in River Forest beginning at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. Activities include campfire stories with the River Forest Public Library, music from the Rough Around the Edges Band, and a presentation by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County on nocturnal animals.

Whole Foods will provide a late night snack and breakfast.

Saturday, Sept. 29

Police Host Unclaimed Bike Sale: Starting at 9 a.m., Forest Park police will be hosting a bike sale of unclaimed bikes held by the department. It's a great chance to get a cheap bike to commute around town on with prices ranging from $30 to over $100. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at 260 Madison St. in Forest Park.

Green Living and Learning Tours: Area resident can learn about sustainable living practices and see what amazing things their neighbors are up to with the Green Living and Learning Tours in Oak Park and River Forest on Saturday.

Pre-registration is required and the cost is $10 per person for up to five tours. Kids get in for free!

Sunday, Sept. 30

Ultimate Frisbee: The Park District of Forest Park hosts a game of Ultimate Frisbee this Sunday. Registration costs $15 for ages 15 and up and will take place at Veteran's Stadium. Teams will learn the proper way to throw a frisbee and create teams to compete against their peers.

Cost: $15

Open Mic Night:  Molly Malone's, 7652 Madison St. in Forest Park, will host and open mic on Sunday evening from 8:30-10 p.m. The event is free and anyone can attend. It's a great way to get practice playing before a crowd, try out new material and get some exposure for your art!
