A Special Resource for The Seniors in Our Community
Including a panel discussion on buying and selling a home at the Dole Center on March 17, from 11:30 am to 1:00 PM

The Senior Citizens’ Center of Oak Park and River Forest Lifelong Learning Center has been a valuable resource for area residents over 50 since 1954. Men and women who join the Center as members have access to a host of interesting activities and educational experiences including classes in the arts, crafts, writing, languages and more for an affordable fee of just $50 a year.
The Center used to be located on South Oak Park Avenue. But as part of the organization’s expansion efforts and recent collaboration with the Park District of Oak Park, Lifelong Learning Center classes are now being held at the Dole Center, 255 Augusta Street in Oak Park.
One of these educational opportunities is a lunch and learn panel discussion on buying and selling a home that is scheduled for March 17, from 11:30 to 1:00 PM at the Dole Center.

The panel will be headed up by Kevin Crowell, a real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway. Kevin is the founder and Vice President of a local business networking group – Business Network International Opportunity Partners (BNIOP). The members of BNIOP represent people from all types of industries. But, interestingly enough, several, like Kevin are involved in the business of buying, selling, protecting and decorating homes! So, Kevin has put together a panel of BNIOP members who are experts in various aspects of residential real estate to help community center members.
Here’s a brief breakdown of the agenda, speakers and topics that will be covered during the 90-minute presentation.

Kevin Crowell, realtor with Berkshire Hathaway, will speak on what are today's buyers are looking for and how sellers can give it to them.
Lucia Gascue-Carol, interior designer and staging consultant, will cover how staging can help homeowners get more profit on a sale and also get more use out of their old furnishings once they’ve moved.
Sandy Emerson, real estate attorney of Emerson Law, will review what’s in a sales contract and other legal questions.
Ken Whitelaw, home inspector with Chicago Building Inspections, will describe what inspectors look for on behalf of buyers.
Don Neag, radon inspector with Chicago Radon Testing, will cover what is radon and how can pre-sale testing for radon save buyers money.
Tom Casey, Insurance Manager with State Farm, will compare the benefits of homeowner's insurance to other types of protection after a move is completed.
The second part of the presentation will be questions from the audience. Lunch will be served during the discussion and all of the panelists would be delighted to talk to audience members after the presentation.
