​Speed Dating. A Fun Way to Spend an Evening

Okay. Maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but some people prefer speed dating to online matches. And on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM the Eastgate Café, 102 Harrison Street in Oak Park is making it easy for singles in the western suburbs to try it out for themselves.

The event is run by Chicago First Dates, the number one speed dating company in Chicago. It’s designed to let 20 single professional men and women in their 30's and 40's get to know each other.

At the start of the evening each of the 10 women and 10 men will be given a Match Card. During the session, each woman will have a chance to meet each man in turn and vica versa for five minutes. After each encounter, the "daters" will note on their Match Cards if they'd like to meet that person again. And, since the Eastgate Café has a full bar and kitchen, participants can also order anything from a cocktail and appetizers to a full meal before, during or after the event. At the end of the night the host will collect the Match Cards and note the couples who mutually picked each other. Couples whose Match Cards indicated they'd like to meet again will receive the contact information of each other so they can get in touch. Who knows? This could be the beginning of a great romance - and a permanent date for Valentine's Day for years to come!
