These 10 Restaurants Were Ranked The Cleanest In Oak Park: Study

OAK PARK, IL — Ten Oak Park restaurants were recently honored for their cleanliness by the Oak Park Department of Health and the village's Board of Health. The restaurants earned a Johnson Award for their top scores in sanitation, an award given in the namesake of the village's first lunchroom.

This year marks the 32nd presentation of the Johnson Awards and the winning restaurants were plucked from a field of nearly 90 eligible eateries, according to a press release.

The 2018 Johnson Award winners include:

• Boss Burrito
• Buzz Café
• Chipotle Mexican Grill
• Happiness Restaurant
• Jerusalem Café
• Lou Malnati's Pizzeria
• Na Siam Thai Restaurant
• New Pot Restaurant
• Penny's Noodle Shop
• Sagano Sushi

The winners were chosen based on a 45-point system with the restaurants being evaluated over a two-year timeframe. The criteria included meeting sanitation standards set by the Illinois State Food Service Sanitation Code for preparing, serving, cooling, and reheating food.

Buzz Café earned extra recognition by breaking a record this year to become the first eatery to get a Johnson Award for the 5th time in a row.
